Aging Skin, refers to the sagging / wrinkling of the skin which is caused by various things. Causes of Aging Skin include sunlight, oxidative stress, and cigarette smoking. Oxidative Stress is the damage done to DNA, proteins, and lipids (fats) which is caused by oxidants (highly reactive substances containing oxygen). These oxidants are produced normally when we breath and also results from inflammation, infection, consumption of alcohol, and cigarettes.

What Are the Symptoms?

The signs of Aging Skin include:

  • Rougher skin
  • Skin that becomes slack [loss of the elastic tissue (elastin) in the skin with age causes the skin to hang loosely]
  • Transparent skin [caused by the thinning of the epidermis (surface layer of the skin)]
  • Skin develops lesions
  • Fragile skin [caused by the flattening of the area where the epidermis and dermis (layer of skin under the epidermis) come together]
  • Skin becomes more easily bruised (due to thinner blood vessel walls)

Traditional Management

Treatments for Vitamin Deficiencies include IV Therapy, UVLrx Light Therapy, Cellupulse, Dermapen (with / without PRP Stem Cells), Injectables & Fillers, and Laser Treatments. With IV Therapy, the nutrients (vitamins) that are needed are injected directly into the veins which allows easy absorption into the cells. In UVLrx Light Therapy a light cable that delivers three different wavelengths of light, sits in a patient’s vein where the blood circulates. Each blood cell is exposed to the light and in over an hour, each blood cell is exposed to the light at least 5-7 times. This helps kill microorganisms in the blood and helps to stimulate and strengthen the immune system.

Cellupulse (Acoustic Wave Therapy) mechanically vibrates connective tissue in affected areas of the body, improving the skin’s appearance by causing the connective tissue to stretch, which increases its elasticity. This produces localized edema that increases vascularization (the organic process where body tissue develops capillaries). This insures better exchanges to the connective tissue, producing an inflammatory reaction that triggers the release of healing mediators creating fibroblastic proliferation which leads to a new, thickened band of collages being deposited into the upper and mid-portions of the skin. Dermapen (with / without PRP Stem Cells) is a device that creates painless micro perforations in the skin to permit the deep diffusion of growth factors that treat fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, injury scars, stretch marks, burns, and hyper-pigmentation.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) holds the advantage of being derived from your own blood and is processed to concentrate the growth factors which stimulate the production of natural compounds that promote healthy, younger looking skin. Injectables & Fillers are used to correct many of the signs of aging skin including: facial lines, wrinkles, hollow cheeks, eyes, receding chins, thin lips, wrinkles between the eyes, and thin aging skin on the hands. Lastly, with Laser treatments, thermal light energy is used to reduce and soften wrinkles, remove unwanted hair, treat spider veins, and tighten skin. This results into a safe and effective rejuvenation of more youthful skin.
